He (Jesus) said to them. "Let us go elsewhere, into the neighbouring towns so that I can proclaim there as well
It happened that he was reclining in his house and many tax-collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. There were many of these and they followed him. The scribes of the Pharisees, on seeing that he was eating with sinners and tax-collectors said to his disciples. "Why does he eat with tax-collectors and sinners?"
because it was for this reason that I came forth (out of his own home and private life).”











On hearing this Jesus said to them. "Those who are strong do not have need of a physician, but those who are ill do have this need. I did not come (out) to call the righteous but sinners."


The disciples of John and the Pharisees were fasting. They came and said to him (Jesus). "Why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" He (Jesus) said to them. "The sons of the bride chamber cannot fast while the bridegroom is with them. What time do they have to fast? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them and then they will fast, on that day. No one sews a patch of new cloth on an old garment, otherwise when under pressure the new will pull and there is a worse tear. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the wine will burst the wineskins and the wine will perish along with the wineskin. But new wine goes into fresh wine skins."
